Caitlin Bird Francke
Caitlin grew up in Sagaponack, New York, where potato fields stretch to the ocean and long, open views define the land. That early experience of expansive, layered scenery continues to shape her work today, guiding her to design landscapes that feel natural, immersive, and quietly refined — spaces where the view becomes part of everyday life.

Her professional path began in journalism, where her work received two Pulitzer Prize nominations, before leading social media for an advertising agency serving major brands including Procter & Gamble and Citibank. During those fast-paced years, the garden became her place of stillness — and, eventually, her calling. She realized she wasn’t simply drawn to beautiful outdoor spaces, but to their power to shape how people feel in their daily lives.

Caitlin trained in landscape design at the New York Botanical Garden and founded Dirt Diva Designs in Chatham, New Jersey. As her work evolved toward a more personal and design-driven practice, so did the name. Today, under Caitlin Bird Landscape Design, she creates thoughtful, high-impact outdoor spaces that balance structure with softness and beauty with livability.

Her work has been featured by Martha Stewart, she writes for the national magazine Fine Gardening, and her writing has appeared in The New York Times.

Caitlin’s approach is rooted in the belief that a landscape should do more than enhance a home — it should shape the experience of living there. The right landscape doesn’t just change a yard; it changes the view that frames your life, every single day.
